About

Built by people who've spent twenty years sorting out other people's vans.

Vansold isn't a startup. It's the answer to a problem we've been watching from three different angles for a long time, and we got tired of watching.

Why Vansold exists

When you sell a van in the UK today, you have three options, and all three are bad.

Option 1: list it private. Three weeks of tyre-kickers, no-shows, and people asking if you'll knock another £500 off because the windscreen washer doesn't work.

Option 2: take it to a forecourt. They'll offer you trade, typically 30–40% under what the van is worth, and that's if they take it at all.

Option 3: an instant cash buyer like WeBuyAnyVan. Quick, but they live up to the reputation: the offer on screen rarely matches the offer on the doorstep, and the deduction list is endless.

We've each spent the better part of two decades working in different parts of the van and vehicle disposal market, at Car.co.uk, at Logan Logistics, in the salvage and recycling networks that sit behind the scenes. We kept seeing the same thing: sellers don't know which route is best for their specific van, so they default to whichever site they saw last on telly. They lose money, every time.

Vansold is the simplest solution we could build. One reg, one fair offer (powered by Car.co.uk's scrap and salvage network, competitive on vans up to 2018, across 90% of the UK), and if you don't like that offer, list it free on our sister site Trader.co.uk and try for more. Either way, you're sorted by tomorrow.

We're not trying to be slick. We're trying to be useful.

LinkedIn

Will is Chief Executive of Trader.co.uk and Car.co.uk, and founder of Trader.co.uk. He received an MBE for services to recycling and social enterprise.

He spent more than seven years at Recycling Lives Ltd in Preston, one of the UK's largest metals-recycling and offender-rehabilitation businesses, as Managing Director and then CEO, and sat on the board of the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA). He joined New Reg Limited as CEO of Car.co.uk in December 2022, expanding to Chief Executive of both Trader.co.uk and Car.co.uk in August 2025.

His focus is the older-to-salvage-then-scrap end of the market: the vans and vehicles that don't fit neatly into traditional trade channels. Under his leadership, Car.co.uk was named in the Sunday Times 100 Fastest-Growing UK Companies in 2024, and in 2026 the group was awarded the King's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category, Will's fifth King's or Queen's Award, having previously received four during his time at Recycling Lives (2010, 2014, 2018, 2019).

"Sellers shouldn't need a degree to work out which exit gets them the best deal for their van. We built Vansold to make that decision in five seconds."

Andrew Logan, Operations and Compliance Lead

Andy is the founder of Logan Logistics Ltd (NW), a transport compliance and operational consultancy that works with family hauliers and blue-chip fleets across the North West. With more than twenty years in transport, compliance, and logistics business development, his expertise covers operator licence support, DVSA-compliant audits, FORS accreditation, driver training, digital debrief systems, and operational efficiency reviews.

Andy started his career in the Royal Air Force, followed by six years as a sponsored reservist with FTX Logistics, a foundation in discipline and operational problem-solving that still shapes how he runs every project. Alongside his work at Logan Logistics, Andy is helping launch Trader.co.uk as a free-to-use platform built specifically for traders, garages, and dealerships to move stock quickly and fairly.

"The collection side of any van transaction is where most companies fall over. We don't. That's where the trust gets built."

Ryan runs the salvage operation at Car.co.uk, having recently been promoted from Business Development Manager, the engine that powers every Vansold price. Before joining Car.co.uk, Ryan spent eight years across the recycling and scrap car networks, including Recycling Lives Ltd in Preston (one of the UK's largest metals recycling and offender-rehabilitation businesses) and Scrap Car Network. He's a graduate of the University of Central Lancashire and a former competitive sportsman.

"If your van's tired but mechanically sound, the salvage offer on Vansold will surprise you. We pay for things the cash-buyer sites won't touch."

Why one company runs three brands

Three brands solve three different jobs:

  • Car.co.uk, consumer car sales, scrap, and salvage; the regulated finance and insurance products; the operational engine.
  • Trader.co.uk, a free-to-list platform for traders and consumers selling vehicles that don't fit the auction model.
  • Vansold, the dedicated front door for van sellers, routing each one to the best exit (instant offer or free Trader listing).

Same legal entity, same standards, three audiences. We don't hide it because we're not trying to.
