Why most "valuation tools" waste your time
Most online van valuations give you a range, say, £2,200 to £3,400, based on age, mileage, and condition picked from a dropdown. That's a guide, not a deal. To turn it into actual cash, you've still got the work: list it, photograph it, field calls, deal with no-shows, deduct £400 because the brake light's flickering.
Vansold cuts that out. Our valuation is the offer. Accept it and the van's gone tomorrow. Don't accept it, list it on Trader.co.uk for free. Either way, you're not stuck with a range and a spreadsheet.
How our valuation works
Enter your registration number. We pull the vehicle data, make, model, year, engine, from DVLA and cross-reference it against two live pricing networks simultaneously:
Salvage market
What the parts network will pay for the working components: engine, gearbox, axles, body panels, interior. This is the right market for older, higher-mileage, and damaged vans.
Scrap market
Based on metal weight and the current precious metals price for catalytic converter content. This is the floor, the minimum any van is worth, however rough it is.
You get the higher of the two. One number, with no ambiguity about which market it came from.
How it compares to other tools
| Vansold | Parkers / Glass's | Dealer trade-in | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Output | One buy price | Range estimate | Low-ball with wiggle room |
| Non-runners priced | Yes | No | Rarely |
| Scrap & salvage considered | Yes | No | No |
| Renegotiation on collection | Never | N/A | Common |
| Free collection | Yes | No | Drive it there |
What happens after the valuation
If you accept: collection is arranged within 24–48 hours and payment is made before the van leaves. If you don't accept: no obligation, no follow-up calls. The offer is valid for 7 days if you change your mind.

Van valuation, common questions
What's the difference between a valuation and an offer?
+
Most valuation tools, Parkers, Glass's, even some dealer sites, give you an estimate range based on age and mileage. Vansold gives you a real number you can act on. One reg, one offer, free collection if you accept.
How accurate is the Vansold valuation?
+
It's not a valuation in the academic sense, it's a buy price. The number is what we'll actually pay you, settled on collection. So accuracy isn't 'plus or minus 10%', it's the number.
Why does Vansold give me one number, not two or three?
+
Because two or three numbers is a sales pitch, not a valuation. We pick the highest of the routes available (scrap network or salvage network), and that's the number on screen.
Will my van's valuation change tomorrow?
+
It might, scrap and salvage prices move with metals markets and seasonal demand. Your offer is locked for 7 days from issue.
Does my van need to be running for a valuation?
+
No. We price non-runners, failed MOTs, and damaged vans. Describe the condition honestly in the form, the offer accounts for it rather than being adjusted on the doorstep.
Is a Vansold valuation useful if I'm not ready to sell?
+
Yes, knowing the floor on what your van is worth is useful context even if you're deciding whether to repair, keep, or sell. And the offer is valid for 7 days if you decide to act on it.
